Zentangle – Happy Birthday Crissy!
I am participating in a traveling sheets for a birthday through postcrossing and I decided to do a zentangle tile for one of the sheets. I don’t think it came out too bad. Though I think I shouldn’t have done the confetti. This was my fourth attempt. The first attempt the cake layers came out nicer but I messed up the candles. The second & third attempt the cake layers didn’t come out the way I wanted them too.

Zentangle Challenges 21-27
Challenge #21 – Oof
Challenge #22 – A Little Help From My Friends
I had my husband help me with this. I explained what a string was and showed him examples and on his first attempt he drew a minion from the movie Despicable Me. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of it before I started working on it.
So I then explained it to him again and showed him more examples so he did this on his second attempt. I started working on it and realized I hadn’t taken a picture of it so I stopped to do that.
Here is the finished tile.
Challenge #23 – String Theory
After my husband helped me with the last challenge he came over and asked if he could help again. He read part of this challenge and saw that it mentioned rolling a dice for tangles so he got a 20 sided dice from his dice bag so I could do the same thing. All of the tangles but 1 were new to me. I had to do the following tangles, Fescu, Flux, Hollibaugh, Mist, Nightsbridge, Pokeroot and Scoodle. Most were not too bad to do but I had a little trouble with flux.
Challenge #24 – String Thoery v.II: Stripes
Challenge #25 – Zendala Magic
Challenge #26 – String Theory v.III: Spiral Out, Keep Going
Challenge #27 – Duo-Tangle

I used my left hand. I guess its better than what I expected.

I did not enjoy this challenge. I practiced the tangle before doing it on the tile but I just couldn’t get it to work. I really don’t like this one.

Challenge #20 – Royal Wedding
I used the following for inspiration for the tile. I wanted to make the flag wavy but it didn’t come out right.

Zentangle
Today I did my first zentangle. It was fun. It reminded me of the doodles I used to make in class when I was bored out of my mind. I unfortunately didn’t have any good pens. I used a black sharpie ultra fine point marker. Which isn’t good since it bleeds. One thing I noticed is it makes my hand quite unhappy so I probably won’t be able to do them quite often. My zentangle isn’t the standard size of 3 1/2 inch square. I have seen many in larger sizes so I did mine on a 5×7 inch heavy cardstock. Next time I will try to do it on the standard size. I plan on reading more on zentangles over the next week.
I also just found a website that does challenges with zentangles. The website is called I am the Diva. They are currently on Challenge #34 so I am a bit behind. I will probably start with the next challenge and might catch up on the others slowly. If I continue doing them I will need to buy better pens.
And now I present to you my first zentangle…tada!
*Update – This is actually considered a Zentangle Inspired Art since its not on a 3.5 inch tile. So it doesn’t really count for my 32 Things by 32. However the ones done the day after this do count. Click here for those.
