NaNoJouMo & Art Every Day Month Day 18
Today’s prompt is “Always” by Switchfoot.
I had a hard time coming up with something for this prompt. I stared at the blank page for a good while before deciding to just try to do something later. I eventually came back to it right before bed but still didn’t really have anything. I looked at the lyrics one last time and just decided to do a heart with the sun’s rays behind it. I hadn’t planned on dripping ink on the heart but it happened. I think it looks ok though.

Today’s prompt is “Mrs. Potter’s Lullaby” by Counting Crows.
For this prompt I decided to take lines from the song and create a page from it. I did two pages. When I heard the song these two images immediately came to me. I really like how the first one with the film strip came out.

I decided to do a little doodling today. I kept it simple. I couldn’t get this to scan properly.

NaNoJouMo & Art Every Day Month Day 16
Today’s prompt is “Me” by Paula Cole.
Finally a song I have heard of before and actually really like. Its one of my favorite Paula Cole songs. I used to listen to the cd “This Fire” all the time while in high school and college. I had a lot of ideas come to mind when I saw the prompt this morning. One of the ideas was to only focus on the title “Me” and do a page on words that describe me. However I remembered doing something similar in photographic form; as you can see below.
I then decided to work on the background and just go from there. Unfortunately it took 7 backgrounds before I made one I liked for this prompt. It of course was a simple one. The page didn’t turn out quite like I wanted. The india ink ran more than I would have liked and due to that I decided to not add too much more to the background. My monster also didn’t come out the way I had sketched it. But it all still works. Behind the blue watercolor layer are words and sayings I wrote with different colored Sharpies.
I may come back tomorrow or sometime this week and create another page on this prompt as I have some other ideas I’d like to do.

Here are the first three of the other six backgrounds I created. I decided not to post them all as it would have been too many images. Of these I like the last one best. The other two I am not so sure about yet. If I can’t come up with anything to do on them I may gesso over them and start again.

I had planned to try to be more artsy today but I was tired and went with simple instead.

Today’s prompt is “Come Home” by One Republic.
When I searched for the lyrics to the song I saw that many people said the song had to do with military officers. So I decided to go with that. I tried doing a camo background. Then I used one of the lines from the song and then wrote some of my own words. I tried to make it look like it was a letter to a solider. I thought about adding dog tags but couldn’t find the blank ones I have.

Today’s prompt is “Nobody Told Me” by Vintage Trouble.
I feel like the page is missing something but I couldn’t figure out what. So I decided to just let it be. I can always come back to it later.
