Art Journal Page for the Week & a Textile
Not a lot of art journaling this week. As we got closer to the start of spring it got colder and has been snowing. The groundhog as usual was wrong.
“Can’t Wait for Spring”
Created using ink pads, Sakura Pigma Micron pens, Sakura 3D Glaze pens, Sakura Souffle pens on watercolor paper.
Created 3/18/2013This week I also made a textile for my husband to take to his job. They wanted the employees to create their own nature textiles based on Wippowillow textiles. He told me he wanted dragon footprints painted in the color red like Sparkles the Dragon. So I drew a pair of dragon footprints which I then made copies of in a much smaller size. I cut around the footprints and used gel medium to transfer them to the canvas fabric. I then painted over the transferred images with red acrylic paint.
“Dragon Foot Prints”
Created using acrylic paint on a piece of canvas.

Queen of Hearts Swap
Yesterday I received my cards from the Queen of Hearts Swap. This was a mixed media swap. The swap was to create three cards following a template that combined created the figure of the queen. There also had to be a heart on each card, the clothes had to be red and we had to use at least three techniques. This swap was a lot of fun.
Here are the awesome cards I received.
The head was created by Tracy,
the body was created by Monica
and the legs were created by Mary. Here are the cards I created for the swap. This time I didn’t make the host card. My husband thought it was neat creating cards that together created a figure so he asked to make the host card.
These are the cards I created. These are the cards my husband created. -
Art Journal Pages for this Week
Last week I didn’t complete any pages but I did work on some backgrounds. This week I was able to finish 2 pages and worked on a few more backgrounds. Creating the backgrounds has been a lot of fun but sadly it distracts from actually finishing a page.
Here are the two I created this week. They include my favorite and my worst that I have created so far.
“Keep Going”
Created using acrylic paints, watercolors, and sakura micron pens on watercolor paper.
Started 3/4/2012
Finished 3/11/2012I really don’t like this one. Its my worst. But I told myself I would put everything I make up regardless if I hated it.
“Murdered Book”
Created using torn page from book, acrylic paint, sharpies and ink on watercolor paper.
Created 3/14/2013This is my favorite page so far. It kind of looks like I was trying to bury the page. Those that know me or follow this blog know I love books. My books are always in great condition. For almost all the books, you can’t even tell I have read them as the spines are still like new. I won’t even lend my books out because I fear people will ruin them; since it has happened in the past. So destroying a book for whatever reason is hard. Thankfully this was an old and very used dictionary I purchased at a used book store. So even though I felt wrong doing it, I eventually got over it. If it had been a novel or a classic I would probably still be upset. Yeah I guess I am weird.

Oh the Horror ATC Swap
Today I received my cards from Oh the Horror ATC Swap. This was my first swap on AtcsforAll. The swap was to create three cards inspired by a character or scene from a horror movie. They had to be hand drawn or hand painted. This swap was a lot of fun. I will definitely be participating in more.
Here are the awesome cards I received.
“Horror Express” by Evangeline D. “The Silence of the Lambs” by Michael K. “The Shining” by Judy P. Here are the cards I created for the swap. I made four cards so that the host could get one as a thank you for hosting the swap.
“Freddy Kruegar from Nightmare on Elm Street” “Kayako from The Grudge” “Ghostface from Scream” “Blade from Puppet Master” -
